Three Habits You Need to Succeed as a Blogger

December 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Here are some habits you should acquire if you wish to become a successful blogger. There are more good habits than these, but they will provide you with a good starting point.

Be consistent

Write consistently. If you have decided that you would like to speak to your target audience every day, then blog every day. If you think twice weekly is all that your audience will want to hear from you then go with that. Whatever you do, be consistent.

It is far better to post once a week, but every week, than setting yourself a daily posting target that you can’t manage. You can always add extra posts, but stick with your regular articles.

Be passionate

If you blog just for the sake of blogging and because somebody has told you that it is the fashionable thing to do, or you have been advised that you can make a lot of money by blogging then you will never come across as credible. Besides this you might as well learn this right at the beginning: You will not make loads of money by blogging.

Find a topic that you can be passionate about. If you can’t find one then don’t blog. It’s a very easy concept.

Communicate with your readers

A blog is a two way street. Besides providing information to your readers, a blog is also a conversation. Successful bloggers interact with their readers. They reply to comments and are prepared to answer reader emails and comments as well as asking for feedback.

Interacting with your readers builds trust and loyalty. It makes you as the blogger more approachable.

There are three more habits you will need, but they will be discussed in the next post.
